Hello Lovely Ladies! Hope you all are doing well, and having a wonderful summer. I'm getting back in this blogging groove a little slowly – so many moments missed with the camera, but I'm packing it along more and more.
I have a rather large stack of quilt tops calling my name, so I've been spending some time with the long arm.
Now, my machine is not the computerized kind that quilts it for you – I either do free motion quilting, or I use pantographs from the back (and move the machine along the lines following with a little red laser light ;).
And that, girls, takes good rhythm – which I don't generally have ( you'd know this if you saw me dance :0). Anyway, you need to move quickly to keep it smooth, but not too quickly – so you keep the little red light on the line – and for me, listening to music while I quilt really helps.
(A favorite part – unrolling the quilt when it's all quilted ;).
The McStudly is quite a fan of movie sound tracks – not the pop songs with lyrics, but the instrumentals. And, I've grown to love them, too. Music can be quite moving, and (depending on the song) quite soothing. We listen to these frequently – so if you all were to take a country drive with us or visit us for dinner, you'd hear these lovely gems playing in the background.
And, the McStudly made me a special list – the softer, peppier (non-heart thumping, on the edge of your seat during a movie scene) playlist – and that really gets my quilting rhythm in gear.
How do you all get your quilting rhythm going?
I also pieced and stippled this fun quilt for a special little guy. I'll bind it in black, and cross my fingers he likes it. He loves the movie "Cars" – so it should be a hit.
(gotta love Mater ;).
And, speaking of rhythm, I love the relaxed, breezy rhythms of summer. We couldn't stick to a schedule in the summer to save our lives – and I like the freedom in that ;). We are outside until dark most evenings, dinner is whatever and whenever (often late when it's cool because we eat outside). I love the gardening, the flowers, the hot sun, laying out with Kate, playing horse shoes and Frisbee with the family, barbeques, and I love summer clothes – maxi skirts and lacy tanks – EVERY DAY – so comfy and cool! Ooh, and I love that we get to show off our toes, and the fun summer colored nail polish and toe rings and ankle bracelets . . . .
Here is a bit of our sweet summer rhythm in pictures:
(candlelight dinners for two)
(R & R after the sun goes down)
(Yup, the guys are still riding dirt bikes ;).
And, the Mc Studly – well, I'm a proud wife, too, so I'll just say it – he still looks incredibly hot in that biking gear!
(A quick dinner for two – steak sandwiches)
(a special – cool bbq lunch with the kiddos inside)
(Father's Day dinner in Kansas City)
(fun finds for Kate and I to bling up our toes and ankles ;).
Hope your summer rhythm is humming along sweetly, too.
