Do any of you all live close enough to come over for some girl talk and sewing? Because it's been a Testosterone Bonanza here!
(Pre-Race Team Huddle)
Yesterday, Studly Jr. had his first meet - in what I find to be a most brutal sport!
(Team Motto)
He runs cross country - they run miles and miles and miles for practice in the 90 some degree heat!
(Off and running!)
And, for meets, they run brutal courses with huge hills for miles - and push their bodies to maximum limits - all in the name of competitive sport!
After the run (and the adrenaline rush) is over, the exhaustion kicks in
(Yes, I'm uber proud, but it's still hard to watch)!
No one I know has more perseverance running through their veins than my Studly Jr.! He's worked so hard, lost a lot of weight, and improved his times from last year dramatically!
Son, I have two things to say to you about the man you are becoming:
1. I know not what you will be when you grow up, but with your perseverance, I know you will go far; and
2. You're the kind of person who shows others that anything is possible, you draw us all to dream of greater heights - and this makes me beam with pride - getting to be your mom and all!
Love you Son!
Today - the boys had their annual "Busted Knuckle Poker Run" with their friends! Studly's friend from high school, Dwyane, and his wife Cindy host the event - they're just great people - ya know! Down to earth, giving, fun! We've all been friends for years - I was thinking today about Cindy having their son Dylan just a couple of months before we had Alec, and us getting together when they were just babies - memories :)!

Here's how it works! The guys go out to ride,
and each time they return, they get a card! Everyone ends up with five cards (their poker hand for the day)!
And, they win prizes according to their hand! Studly Jr. won a new riding shirt.

Studly got a new bladder (yes, a new bladder)! That's what they call these bags you fill up with drinks and wear on your back-with a hose to drink with while riding)!
They also have time trials - basically a race to see who is the fastest rider! We all had a really good time (and my boys suffered only minor crashes and injuries - Shwew)!!
Thank you SO much Dwyane & Cindy for a great day! You guys are the bomb!!!
The only estrogen producing activity I've had this weekend was baking cookies for the poker run yesterday after Studly Jr.'s meet.
And I did get to visit with Cindy amidst all the revving dirt bikes (so that provided a bit of estrogen, too) but we couldn't compete with 20 guys all sweating and fighting it out testosterone style!
Mkay - I'm off to put in a chick flick - think it's going to take something super sappy like "The Notebook" to get me back on my hormonal track! Oh, and some stitching! Some serious hand-stitching!
TTFN,
Kelly
