Six Thousand One Hundred and Eight –
That's how many little one inch square postage stamp blocks (if you include all of the extras that went into piecing the back
And, I could think of no better name than "Love Letter" to grace this postage themed quilt!
It's composed of at least two hundred different fabrics from my stash, and I have to say, I "love" it!
I decided to free-motion quilt this one, because well – love frees, or as Maya Angelou says, "Love Liberates" – goodness, I'm going to miss her!
So I liberated my little self to do what I call "Kelly Stippling"
lots of random curly-que's and whenever I feel like it – which is A LOT – I wing in some love and quilt a heart ;)!
It's been nearly a year since I've blogged, so I thought I'd give you a quick update on the family! There have been a lot of ups and downs, but more ups than downs, and I have to say we have been really blessed! Yup
the Memory Jar for 2014 is so full of good things I think I'm going to have to get a bigger jar.
As a side note, we loved this on New Year's Eve last year – pouring out the jar, and taking a walk down memory lane – I highly recommend it!
The kids are doing well. Kate loves her job as an RN, and has transferred to the Emergency Room.
Having gotten over the initial shock (and pain) of her leaving home, we've become besties – best girlfriends – and that is such a bright spot in my life!
The Junior did very well in his first year of college – what the heck I'm a proud mom so I'll go ahead and brag – he got a 4.0 – for the YEAR! He's a Phi Delt now, and had a lot of fun with the fraternity! He's still living at home – also a huge bright spot in my life!
(a little ping pong fun)
Oh, and there is a happy new addition to our family
Kate's boyfriend, whom I've affectionately nick-named "Maverick"!
Now a parent shouldn't get attached too quickly, but I'm telling you, this kid is a hard one Not to love! He's smart, funny, a hard worker! Oh, and he cooks, too! His family originates from Southern Arkansas (very near the Louisiana border), so he's introduced us to all kinds of fun Southern/Cajun food
Like the night we had this awesome "Crawfish Boil" – I drew the line at sucking the juice out of the little critters brains (I am a northerner by birth - what can I say? ;)! But, crawfish are pretty good – at least the way Maverick cooks them!
I guess the best thing about him is that he is A LOT of fun so he fits in our family just perfectly ;)!
(a late night of game playing and being goofy like we are)
And, the McStudly and I are doing well! We moved back to our old house, and sold the town house we'd purchased! We missed darn near everything about this place – the pool, the gardens, our sleigh riding hill, the real wood burning fireplace, our neighbors!
So we are remodeling the old homestead to match much of the interior of the town house – because we loved that! Shortly after we moved back, I found this sign to hang on our pool shed – it really says it all for us
Our "Happy Place" is being together with each other and our family, and really and truly, it's in this old homestead where we've made so many wonderful memories!
We still love spending time together
and going on adventures together. We're still as goofy and silly as ever! Here is a bit of photo booth fun we had last week after a dinner for two in Kansas City
At this point, the prospects of us growing up are getting pretty slim! And, I think that's probably a really good thing ;)!
Wishing you all an awesome weekend with lots of laughs and love!
