Quilt Name: Country Haven
About The Quilt: This is my latest finished project and I donated it for a church lottery. I am told that the tickets are selling well and the draw is August 9 (the day after my son's wedding). The proceeds are to go for a renovation project. Made with fabrics from my stash, and it was hand quilted. The pattern is by Kim Diehl.

Quilt Name: Joined At The Hip Welcome Banner
About The Quilt: This is another Joined at the Hip banner. I made it in 2007 and it was my very first attempt at needle turn applique. The reason that I know this is because I actually put it on my quilt label. I have never taken a class on needle turn applique, so I turned through trial and error along with some advice from my other quilter friends. Since this was my first needle turn applique quilt, it holds a special/painful place in my quilt collection. I have improved greatly since then, and I have grown to love applique quilts.

Quilt Name: Flutterby Friendship Quilt
About The Quilt: This quilt started as a pattern from the book Jelly Roll Quilts by Pam and Nicky Lintott. I used a jelly roll in Flutterby from Tula Pink for Moda. Since I only used half of the jelly roll, I added the green panels and then used charm packs cut in half for the pieced border. The pieced back with green on brown polka dot (Michael Miller) is my favorite. Thanks for checking it out!

Quilt Name: Wall Flower
About the Quilt: I just finished this quilt yesterday! A friend and I each made one of these together. It was her first quilt ever, and I was helping her along. This is my first quilt done in Moda fabrics, and I now have an obsession for Moda! The quilt is made using fabrics from Camille Roskelley's "Cotton Blossoms", and it is her pattern, "Wall Flower." Check her out at Thimbleblossoms.com. I just love this quilt. And, NO it isn't still hanging in the tree!

Quilt Name: Let Freedom Ring
About The Quilt: On Aug. 23, 2001 I took a miniature quilt workshop taught by Carol Henry. Since I have loved miniature anything since I was a child, I opted to make the smallest grandmother's flower garden she had paper templates for. I had 5 little "flowers" made when Sept. 11 rocked our world. From then on the quilt became my therapy. I decided to only use red, white and blue and set aside the two "flowers" that I had already made that were other colors. I collected tiny prints and patriotic prints in Florida and then in Washington state and the San Juan Islands when I visited my brother. All of the pieces for the flowers were fussy cut. If you look closely you'll see eagles heads and the spikes from the Statue of Liberty. I finished the quilt in Feb. of 2003. It is photographed here on an 8.5" x 11" piece of computer paper. The sides measure 4" long. Each hexagon measures approximately 1/4" from one side to the other. There are 472 of them...I think! There are 19 pieces in each flower, 19 flowers create the entire hexagon quilt. 111 white hexagons connect everything. The quilt measures 8" from point to point across the quilt amd 7 1/8" from side to side. It took over 300 hours to make. I had to invent a new way to make binding that small. It is 1/8" wide. My brother-in-law calls it my pot holder! Although I used the hexagon templates, the quilt is my original design.

Quilt Name: Christmas Rose
About The Quilt: I love the rich colors of this fabric. Then I came across a free pattern online and I love how the quilt came together. I haven't quilted for about ten years, and I am having so much fun with all the fabric lines. Everyone is afraid to use the quilt but I tell them I want them to break it in.

Quilt Name: Dandelion Wishes
My Blog: Patches & Petals
About The Quilt: I love this quilt - simple pattern and the fabric does ALL the work! More than that though, it was my winter project this last year and there is something about those sunny colors that just made me feel all warm and cozy inside even though it was cold and blizzardy outside. The quilting was done by my dear friend Wilma of Alaskan Rose Quilting using the most adorable pattern - "Daisies" I believe it was called. It was a perfect compliment to my summery flowers and warm sunny colors. Now no matter the season I can always snuggle up under this cozy quilt and dream of sunny days and make Dandelion Wishes!

Quilt Name: Allie-oops Sweet Happy Life
My Blog: Allie Oops Sweet Happy Life
About The Quilt: This was my first quilt made with a charm pack. The charm pack was a gift and I didn't want to cut the charms, and wanted to come up with some way to showcase them. A simple sashing was my decision. It was too small when I was done, so I added big borders, printed out some letters in a font I liked, and used fabrics from my retro stash to applique them on. I love how happy this quilt looks and I use it constantly.

Quilt Name: Woolies Baby Rag Quilt
My Blog: A Stitch & A Prayer
About The Quilt: I had seen some of the WOOLIES flannel at a quilt show and fell in love with it. It looks so much like wool but it is a really soft flannel. I decided to use the WOOLIES light for a baby quilt for a friend who was expecting in cold February. This was the first rag quilt that I made, it went together very quickly but my hand was pretty sore from all the snipping (done in one evening).

About The Quilt: When I bought the summer 2008 McCall's Quick Quilts magazine my daughter saw this quilt and fell in love. She wanted it JUST LIKE the featured quilt. Tracking down all of the TWO YOUNG STREET - Prints Charming fabrics by Marcus wasn't easy but I got pretty close. This was the first quilt I had taken to be machine quilted and the first that I did the binding by hand (ugh!). I even put a label on the back to mark the occasion of my daughter going off to college. The quilt was for her dorm room.

Quilt Name: Jaycee's Quilt
About The Quilt: This is my first quilt, I just finished it today. The design has no name, I made it using graph paper, just to see if I could. The fabrics are from my old sewing stash. I made this quilt for Jaycee,my cousin's 4 year old grandson. He's a real sweetie and I hope he looks at this quilt many years from now and remembers how much Aunt Pam loved him.

Quilt Name: Springtime
About The Quilt: This small simple pieced wall hanging was such fun! It is machine-stitched and went together sweetly! The tulip blocks are paper pieced. I sorta made up the design from scrap fabrics as I went along. I have been quilting for only a very short time and this little tulip quilt has given me the courage to continue in quilting. "Springtime"now hangs in our dining room.

About The Quilt: Cottage Garden Sampler by The Rabbit Factory. This was a Block of the Month which my friend (Pepper's Closet Fabric Shop from Antigonish N.S.) put together for me. Quilt Name: Sweet Love
About The Quilt: Photographed on an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of computer paper. I saw a Mimi Deitrich pattern for a 36" x 36" baby quilt in a Fons and Porter Love of Quilting Magazine (2006 I think) . I decided to miniaturize the pattern and see just how small I could hand applique with a buttonhole stitch. I actually made the quilt the size of the photo in the magazine. It is 7" x 7". The leaves are about 3/8" long. The
Baltimore
album designs are about 1 3/8" across. There are silk ribbon leaves and tiny buttons adorning the scalloped border. The crossed stems and circles are 1/16" wide and are appliqued down with a decorative hand top-stitch. The scalloped border is needle turn hand appliqued. I grabbed these fabrics that were in a basket of goodies I had won at a guild meeting. I don't really like the colors, but it was just an experiment. Note to self: always use fabrics you love...it might turn into something wonderful.

Quilt Name: Allie-Oops Sweet Happy Life
About The Quilt: This quilt was made for the annual raffle at my favorite homeschool site. It was a hard one to give up, I really liked it and planned to make another for myself but never did. It was my first coin quilt and I had a hard time figuring out what to use for the flower stems, until I remembered the ric rac in my stash. This was a lot of fun to make!

About The Quilt: The pattern is from a book called Comfort and Joy by Brenda Riddle. I am a huge Fig Tree Quilts fabrics fan and all the fabrics are from in the quilt are FTQ except the corner stars , they are made from Thimbleberries fabric. Since I found your website when google-ing "Mill House Inn" , the new fabric line from FTQ, I find it fitting to enter this quilt in your show ! It is a lap quilt size- 60"x72", and I love how it turned out.

Quilt Name: Bird Song
About The Quilt: The pattern is from Fig Tree Quilts. Most of the fabrics are FTQ but also some others, for example from Blackbird design and scraps of wool for the appliqué. I have this quilt hanging on my living room wall and I am very happy with it, the colors are so soft and warm, (and we need that here in the country of chronically bad weather).

Quilt Name: Shoot For The Stars
About The Quilt: I love this quilt. I love the ladies at “The Buggy Barn,” and this is from one of their patterns (Shoot For the Moon). I chose all of the fabrics myself, one by one. None of them are from the same design line. I wanted to try a lot of colors and a lot of textures all in one quilt. I think that this was my first quilt that I made just for me. All of my quilts before that had been for others. This quilt is for snuggling with. It holds a special place over my wooden rocking chair in my family room.

Quilt Name: Beach Baby
About The Quilt: I made this quilt for one of my daughters' best friends for her baby shower. Since we live in Florida, and we knew that she was going to have a baby boy, I thought that a beach themed quilt was just right. The colors are nice and bright and there is a lot for the baby to look at once he starts focusing in on things - especially during tummy time.

Quilt Name: A Place To Pray
About The Quilt: This little quilt hangs in our church. I wanted to make some kind of banner for the lectern and decided it should be a quilt. the design is inspired by a mountain picture I saw on the internet. We live in the Appalachian mountains and our little church sits on the mountainside, near a river, with a stone wall much like the one in the quilt. When I first made the quilt the church was white and when I realized that our church was brick, I quickly appliqued a rust colored church over the first one.

Name: Marilyn G., TX
Quilt Name: Beach House Pinwheel Quilt
About The Quilt: My quilt is a wall hanging that is 40” X 40”. The fabric I used in the quilt is from Moda’s ‘Beach House’ fabric line. The pattern is from the ‘Pastry Shop’ booklet from Fig Tree Quilts. I chose an ocean themed pattern for the quilting that has seashells, starfish and bubbles since the fabric line is called Beach House. The colors of these fabrics are soft and muted, just like the colors at the beach when there is a bit of fog. The pattern is called "Cherry Turnovers", and is in the "Pastry Shoppe" book by Fig Tree Quilts.

Quilt Name: Amy Butler Lotus Spring Path
About The Quilt: I made this quilt for one of my niece who will turn 13 in July. I was happily surprised when she was visiting my Mom and while admiring one of my Mom's quilts, told her that she wished I would make a quilt for her. The quilt is very bright and hip. Of course, some of us who grew up in the late 1960's have seen these types of fabrics before :o) The free pattern is Amy Butler Lotus Brick path. The pattern is downloadable at Amy Butler Designs.

Quilt Name: Charming & Frugal Empress Woo
About The Quilt: This quilt is my Charming & Frugal Empress Woo. the fabric line is designed by Robyn Pandolph and it's a few years old. i bought a pack of charm squares and cut those up to be the 16-patch blocks--that's the "charming" part. i used a green from stash to be the cornerstones (each block, the 16-patch blocks and the figural blocks are constructed as snowballs) . i also bought some yardage of the figures and since i didn't have quite enough of the people--i would carefully piece scraps together to get a whole figure in the block--hence the "frugal" part. this was my own "design" and i'm very proud of that! (though as designs go, this is pretty simple :-)

About The Quilt: This is my first completed quilt - all done by hand. I chose Woodland Bloom by Lila Tueller. It measures approx. 43 1/2 X 52. Quilt Name: Quilt Full of Love
About The Quilt: I'm excited to share the quilt I made for Ella a few years ago. It was made with a lot of love - 99 hearts in all! I worked on this quilt for months, at the time I was pregnant with our 4th and had yet to make a quilt for our oldest. Baby quilts are easier and faster :) I made this quilt with a valentine's fabric collection, Hearts Aflutter by Sandy Gervais. I had a plan and it changed a lot while I was piecing all the blocks. In the end I have 6" hearts sashed and framed! Ella loves her quilt and proudly shows it off whenever possible - that does my heart a lot of good!

So they all started collecting burgundy, poka dots and checks!

Quilt Name: The Chicken Blanket a/k/a "This Hurts My Eyes"
About The Quilt: This is my very first quilt. It is so bright that it gave me headaches while I was piecing the top, but I love it anyway. The pattern is Fat Quarter Fun Nine Patch by Pat’s Custom Crafts; Pat is the lovely woman who taught my beginner’s quilting class. I used some “The Cow Says Moo” fabric from Kaufman; the back is all covered with little chickens, which is why we call it the Chicken Blanket. My girls like to use it, which warms my heart. I am now hooked on quilting and am anxious to make the next one.
Aren't they all JUST LOVELY? Thank you so much to all of you who entered and made our First Charming Threads Quilt Show such a success!
