Alright - let me just get this out in the open! Schedules are like shoes for me - they are restrictive, they inhibit freedom and should only be used when necessary to warm the feet and keep a happily ordered home!

If you happen to be a shoe/schedule person, let me tell you how much I admire that gift in you:

(These little cuties sit on an antique rocker in our bedroom - always)
my McStudly is a shoe/schedule person - that's how much I admire the gift! When he took me on that romantic date to "Build-A-Bear", he wanted to pick out shoes for his bear - and I said no, beceause the "me" bear doesn't have shoes (I wouldn't even think of restricting her with shoes). But, he pointed out that, while I'm always barefoot, he always wears his shoes - and we needed to get a pair for his bear - fair enough!

Here is how our conversations go pretty much every morning:
McStudly: What do you have planned today?
Me: Oh, I don't know! I need to reply to some e-mails (this is always on my list - because I'm only caught up on e-mails one or two times a year), I need to do some laundry, and the bathrooms need to be cleaned . . . . I'll just see how it goes. What do you have planned?
McStudly: I have "x" appointment at "x" time in "x" place . . . and I'll be in the office from "x" to "x" time, then I have "x" appointment . . . . I should be home around "x" time.

His days generally go as planned, and mine - well, not so much! I may answer a few e-mails, sew, dust, bake some bread - who knows! Hence, this new schedule - which is truly very simple, and I'm loving it so far! I can actually tell McStudly - oh, today is Baking Day :o)

Now, I was doing pretty well on the schedule - but, today instead of cleaning house, I have to admit, I answered some e-mails (I'm catching up I promise) and I decorated for Christmas (and just between you and me - it was so much more fun)! And, really, a little extra dust won't kill us for another week.

Is it too late to give thanks for another thing - I know I was supposed to be finished on Sunday, but this is a biggie I somehow failed to mention last week!
McStudly came home for lunch today (and to pull down some of the heavier boxes of Christmas decorations for me)! I had the Christmas music blasting, I was singing, dancing and decorating! We had lunch, and McStudly headed back to work - back to the cold, hard world to provide for us!

And, all afternoon I was just ruminating in the sheer joy of getting to be a woman! While he was hard at work - I was so blessed to get to be a woman, to be in the warmth and comfort of our home, singing and decorating and preparing a cozy Christmas atmosphere that my boys will enjoy in the month to come!

As women, goodness we have some "toughy" stuff to deal with in life - childbirth, the larger worry center in our brains than men (it's for raising the kiddos I'm sure), monthly cycles, hair, make-up . . . . And, yet, we are so blessed to be the harbingers of such joy and beauty in life, be it through sewing, cooking, decorating, planning family fun, or just pointing out a beautiful flower or sunset to those we love!

And, so I give thanks today for the sheer joy of being a woman - and even for being a non-schedule/non-shoe person (there is some good in that too, I know there is - I just haven't figured it out yet)!
Hope you all are finding much joy as you prepare for the holidays and bring joy and beauty and goodness to those you love because

you are doing something that is far more important for your family and for the world than you probably know!
TTFN,
Kelly
